2017

Our Eco-Council have recently supplied recycling bins to all our classes. We place all of our used paper and card into our recycling bins and they are taken away at the end of everyday.

The Eco-Council have also placed mini compost bins in all of our classrooms. When children have eaten any fruit or veg, they place their waste into the mini compost bins: the bins are then collected at the end of the week so they can be placed into a larger compost bin. The compost is used in our school’s garden to help our plants flourish.

September 2013  Middlesbrough One Planet Award Finalist

Thank you to all our gardeners an a special thank you to staff, Mrs White, Mrs Guy, Mrs Beamson and Mrs Preddy who were shortlisted for a Middlesbrough One Planet living Award this year. Their hard work  and sheer enthusiasm that they have all generated has enabled so many of our children to enjoy the school garden.

Our Eco-Council are a very active group around school. Most lunchtimes we are busy in our garden and allotment or  litter picking around the site.

Summer Fair

We had our very own plant stall and raised £1oo. Thanks to local garden centres, Stockton Garden Centre, Sir Plant a Lot and Strikes for donating plants for our garden and for us to sell. Our rockery is looking great!

We are keen to work in the community too and have been busy raising money for our garden and then spending it at Cherry Hill Garden Centre!

Last autumn we went out and about and planted bulbs in Stewart Park.

In the spring term we took part in the Walk to School week and Sainsbury’s kindly supported our walking bus, thank you.

We have brought Bags 2 school twice this year, recycling our clothes and making money to spend in our garden.

This year Mrs White and many other adults have helped us in the garden. As well as growing vegetables, planting raspberry and gooseberry bushes that were kindly donated and potting up lots of colourful planters around school we have also created an insect hotel, bought bird boxes and created a rockery! It has been a busy year!

We are proud to have achieved Eco Schools Silver Award and we are now going for The much coveted Green Flag Award!
